Effective date: October 18, 2026
This is a general policy that describes how our online store at shop.pelletpal.net operates. It is not legal advice. If you have questions, contact us using the details below.
PelletPal ("PelletPal", "we", "us") sells barn owl pellets, dissection tools and teaching resources through our online store at shop.pelletpal.net. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Order information: your name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping addresses, school or organization name, the products you order, and any order notes or purchase-order details you provide.
- Contact and quote requests: the information you enter in our contact or quote request forms, or send us by email.
- Account information: if you create an account, your login email, a password (stored by our platform in encrypted form) and your order history.
- Tax-exemption documents: if you send us a tax-exemption certificate, we keep it with your account to apply the exemption.
- Device and usage information: like most websites, our store automatically receives information such as your IP address, browser type, pages viewed and referring pages, through cookies and similar technologies (see below).
Payments
Payments are processed by third-party payment providers such as PayPal, Venmo, Google Pay and our card processor. Your card or account details are entered with and handled by those providers under their own privacy policies. We do not see or store your full card number. We receive limited payment information, such as the payment method used and whether the payment succeeded.
How we use your information
- To process, ship and support your orders, including sending order confirmations, shipping and tracking emails.
- To answer questions, prepare quotes, and handle purchase orders, invoices, returns and refunds.
- To apply tax exemptions, prevent fraud, and keep our store secure.
- To improve our store and understand which pages and products are useful.
- To send marketing emails only if you opt in (for example, by ticking the newsletter box at checkout). Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you at any time.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
Our store uses cookies that are necessary for it to work, such as keeping items in your cart and keeping you signed in. We may also use analytics and advertising tools, such as Google Analytics, Google Ads and the Meta (Facebook/Instagram) pixel, which use cookies or similar technologies to measure visits, understand how the store is used, and show or measure our ads on other sites. These providers may collect information about your use of our store and other websites under their own privacy policies.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use your browser's "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal, and manage ad personalization through Google Ads Settings and your Meta ad preferences. Blocking necessary cookies may stop parts of the store, such as the cart, from working.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for money. We share information only as needed to run our business:
- with our e-commerce platform, BigCommerce, which hosts our store and stores order data;
- with payment providers to process payments;
- with shipping carriers such as USPS to deliver your order;
- with email, analytics and advertising service providers that help us operate and promote the store;
- when required by law, or to protect our rights, customers or others.
Data retention and security
We keep order and invoice records for as long as needed to fulfill orders, provide support, and meet tax and accounting requirements. We rely on our platform's and providers' security measures, and we limit access to your information to people who need it to serve you. No online service can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, including California and other states with consumer privacy laws, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we have about you and request a copy;
- ask us to correct inaccurate information;
- ask us to delete your personal information, subject to records we must keep by law, such as for tax purposes;
- opt out of marketing emails, and opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising;
- not be treated differently for using these rights.
To make a request, email PelletPal.us@gmail.com with the subject "Privacy request" and the email address you used with us. We may need to verify your identity before we act on a request. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows.
Children's privacy
Our products are used by students in classrooms and at home, but our store is intended for adults, schools and organizations. Purchases must be made by an adult (18 or older) or by a school or organization. Our store is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other sites
Our store may link to other websites, such as our lessons at pelletpal.net, payment providers and social media. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date.
